Dean Fitzpatrick funeral He was a young man with so much life

first_imgTHE FUNERAL OF 23-year-old stab victim Dean Fitzpatrick is taking place today with friends and family gathered at the Holy Trinity church in Donaghmede this morning. In his homily, the priest, Fr Eoin McCrystal, spoke of the “devastation” felt at the young man’s tragic death by those who knew him.“He was a young man with so much of life ahead of him,” he said. “Speaking with his loved ones they have told me of the fact that Dean was a proud father of Leon and doted on him. Dean was a young man with plenty of life in him so it is only natural that there are so many broken hearts in this church this morning.”During the homily, the parish priest mentioned Fitzpatrick’s younger sister Amy, who was just 15 when she went missing five years ago in Spain.“That must be the worst nightmare for any family, and Amy is very much in our prayers this day as well,” he said.Dean Fitzpatrick was found with stab wounds at a house on Malahide Road in Dublin on 26 May and later died of his injuries in hospital. A man had been arrested over the killing but was later released by gardaí without charge.Read: Man released without charge over Dean Fitzpatrick killing>last_img
